Does Your Week Look Like the Life You Want?
Category: Mindset • About 4 min read
Take a look at last week. Where did your time actually go? The appointments, the errands, the phone calls, the helping, the waiting, the things that simply had to be done.
Most of it was good, and most of it mattered to someone. And still, one question is worth asking: did your week look like the life you want?

Your calendar tells a story
I’m Patty Hedrick, a registered nurse and health coach. In 30+ years as a nurse, I have sat with so many women who did everything for everyone else. Their calendars were full. Their days were full.
And somewhere along the way, the things that made them feel most alive quietly slipped off the page. Not because they stopped mattering. Because nobody was protecting them.
Three small checks that bring a week back into alignment
1. Notice what gave you energy
Think back over the past few days. What left you feeling a little lighter? A walk, a good conversation, time in the garden, an hour with a book? Those moments are clues. They show you what still matters to you now.
What helps: Name one energizing moment from last week, and write it down. What you notice, you can protect.
2. Notice what quietly drained you
Some drains are unavoidable. Others have simply become habits — a yes said too quickly, a task that was never really yours, a day with no pause in it. Noticing is not criticizing yourself. It is honest, kind attention.
What helps: Ask yourself: what is one drain I could soften this week, even a little?
3. Give one thing that matters a real place
Alignment does not require a new life. It can begin with one protected hour, one honest “no,” or one brave “yes.” Give what matters a real place in your week, the way you would any other appointment.
What helps: Choose one thing that matters to you. Give it one hour next week, and keep it the way you would keep a promise to a friend.
Does the way I spend my time reflect what matters most to me now?
You do not need a new life. You need a week that tells the truth about the woman you are becoming.
Rediscover who you are. Reconnect with what matters. Reignite what’s possible. Every day is a gift — stop waiting for permission to live it.
